THE CHALLENGE

The Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge is a 3,000 mile rowing race across the Atlantic Ocean from

La Gomera in the Canary Islands to Antigua in the Caribbean.

About the Challenge

Rule No.1 for rowing across an ocean:
Keep weight to an absolute minimum and only pack completely essential items. 🧳
Rule No.2 for rowing across an ocean:
Bagpipes are an essential item. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
Happy international bagpipe day! Here’s Jamie playing his @mccallum_bagpipes_ltd pipes as we rowed into 2020. Available as pictured for weddings and hen dos 😂
20% of Malagasy children under the age of five die as a direct result of diarrhoeal diseases. That’s because only 14% of the rural population has access to clean water and just 7.5% of the rural population have access to adequate sanitation.⠀
⠀
This is why we put in all the effort, both with fundraising and rowing, so we could raise money for @feedbackmadagascar to provide clean water boreholes to people who need it. ⠀
⠀
So far because of the money you all donated, we’ve helped to provide clean water for more than 3,000 people, with that number rising all the time.
⠀
Here's an image of the Amati Broarhole when it was officially opened. A special thank you to everyone who helped with our campaign and with #whiskyforwater. 🙏🏼
Spare a thought for the boys @lostclock who are currently spending their days watching hours and hours of us so they can unearth the nuggets that are actually worth watching. What should our documentary be called? ⠀
⠀
1. MacLean on me ⠀
2. Three men and a boaty ⠀
3. 35 DAYS, 3 BROTHERS, 1 TOILET
Happy #worldwhaleday 🐳
We were so lucky to see some of these magnificent creatures during our row. Unfortunately we weren’t quick enough with the camera, but luckily @marcuswhiterows (winner of #twac2019 solo class) caught this incredible footage during his crossing. 😱🐋

A bottle of MacLean's Pillage and Maclean's Spillage have washed up on shore. Maybe it's a sign that we should make another batch? @feedbackmadagascar #whiskyforwater
Why do we row?⠀
⠀
A. To raise money for charity⠀
B. Spiritual fulfillment ⠀
C. So we can eat big bricks of banana bread.
